I put 13 further screenshots here so you can have a look at them.

Warband screenshots 1

The good think is you can create your own kingdom here. So, with my 47 troop members I invaded a castle in desert area which had 126 garrison troops. I conquered them gain a castle and this way my new kingdom arised. But immediately I was invaded a lot of united muslim emirs which besieged my newly seized castle. I had 36 troops and they have about 590 toops. I wasn't able to resist such a superiority and lost castle again.  I think I am still too weak so far and I will have to improve my experiences and acquire possibility to hire more troops so as I could withstand superiority of enemy and retain seized castle or town. So this way I will be proceeding to plunder villages and fight with single emirs for some closer time.  :D

I created my own kindgom (red one) from the scratch. I can tell you it isn't easy feat. I have been facing enormous enemies' superiority and had to pass through very hard fights and to withstand and endure all these endless attacks. Now I think I definitely defended my kingdom. Guys, these game is really amazing and after several patches works quite well. I would like to invite all of you to buy this game which isn't too expensive and start to play campain.  :)

My actual kingdom (red one).

Defending village.

Trying conquering town.

Assault on castle.

Village in night.

Another fight for village stock.

Steam sucks eggs. If you want to buy games online, use direct2drive. I've been a satisfied customer for years. I never lose codes, manuals or disks... nothing gets damaged or scratched, etc. And my library of games is present for life.

I'll likely be picking up Warband this weekend. I've been having a helluva good time with the old M&B lately.

Well, I do know this; both the original M&B and Warband are both available on direct2drive. D2D doesn't work like Steam does - it is simply like an online store. You DL and are not required to be online or to be logged in anywhere to play. None of the D2D games work like Steam games work.

So, an offline version certainly exists.  Whether or not that means you can make the version you have work offline I don't know.

Probably the best place to ask the question would be the Taleworlds forums;

If you don't have broadband or friends with broadband
or perhaps just like to have a permanent copy on plastic:

Get the Warband Demo from July 2010 PC Gamer disc.

Installed and playing in MINUTES.  The way it SHOULD be.

Version 1.105

Like the original it's the full game and allows you to play until level 7 and
then you must purchase the activation key from Taleworlds. Links provided
and it is quite easy with a credit card.

Obviously I've removed my anti Steam rantings; but will summarize:

DO NOT BUY a boxed version in the US that says "Steam required".
If you're not familiar with Steam and on modem this is a HUGE mistake.
Steam is proprietary, presumptuous, needlessly complicated  and generally
  a PAIN.
If you like Steam that's great: just download it from the Steam site.
Why buy the disk?
Or download it from Direct to drive as Scrogdog suggests or directly from
Taleworlds in a Steam-free version.
